Legislation

The law can be in comprised of:

  • Act
  • Regulation(s)
  • Legislative Instruments and Notices
  • Standards – Codes, Guides

It is important that the Laws (Acts and Regulations) tend to set broad obligations and specific offences.

Instruments and Standards set out the detail obligations and technical requirements.

Consideration should also be given to industry standards and work practices to ensure that activities are conducted to the law and industry norm, rather than historic practices.
